Benevento, Twenty days of “Città Spettacolo”
It is one of the oldest festivals in Campania. At first directed by Ugo Gregoretti and now by Giulio Baffi, not forgetting Rigillo, Costanzo and Moscato, just to mention a few names, this year Benevento Città Spettacolo reaches its 34th edition. From 6 to 22 September.
The 2013 programme is remarkable. Opening with La Bohème, opera in four parts by Giacomo Puccini, put on by the Conservatory of Benevento. Among the national premieres there is Sik Sik l’artefice magico, by Eduardo De Filippo and with Benedetto Casillo. Veronica Pivetti is the protagonist in Mortaccia, la vità è meravigliosa, an irreverent musical show, comic and engaged at the same time. There is also room for Argentine tango, in a mix of love stories and passion.
Raccontami Benevento and Letture Stregate take on stage and on the streets the city and its architecture, along with the most beautiful pages of Strega Prize.
Also the Roman Theatre, the De Simone Theatre, the Pacific Mill, the Arch of the Sacrament open the doors for the occasion, together with the ancient Cathedral, the Hortus Conclusus, the Convitto Giannone, the Church of Saint Augustine, and Paolo V Palace.
