Capri, New Energy Networking Go-Ahead

Capri will be electrically connected to the rest of Italy. The beginning of operations has been announced by Mayor Ciro Lembo and by Terna CEO Flavio Cattaneo. President of Regione Campania Stefano Caldoro and General Director of the Energy Department of the Ministry for economic development Sara Romano attended the conference.

A quick look at some of the figures of this big work: a 30 km long submarine power line; over 100 million euros invested and at least 17 million euros saved yearly by the system; work for 40 businesses and 300 human resources; over 1 billion euros for Campania’s electricity grid.

Terna, the leading electricity transmission company in Italy, will run this high-tech and eco-sustainable project.

President Caldoro commented: “Building this infrastructure will bring development and employment, besides further services for citizens. A project that will allow the island of Capri to have greater security for its electricity supply”.
