Culture, in Ravello tribute to Niemeyer
A 70 day programme and more than 40 events. For a journey through music, dance, literature, science and visual arts. From 29 June to 7 September. This is the Ravello Festival, the summer festival dedicated to the arts, in a fabulous setting: from Villa Rufulo, with the new-look Belvedere, to the Auditorium Niemeyer, passing through the silent and colourful narrow streets in the historical centre. Tomorrow is the theme of the 2013 edition. A programme ranging from symphonic music to chamber music, from jazz to pop, from dance to theatre and visual arts. Tributes to Niemeyer, Brazilian architect and father of the same name Auditorium, then Wagner, on the occasion of his bicentennial, and also Gesualdo, Britten, D’Annunzio.
On the agenda Mimmo Paladino’s exhibition, pivoting around the figure of Gesualdo da Venosa, in addition to another exhibition celebrating the splendour of C.A. Bixio’s Neapolitan song, featuring Pippo Baudo and Christian De Sica as singers.
The fans of international pop will have the opportunity to listen to David Knopfler, the historical founder of Dire Straits, in Italy after twenty years. Not lacking are Fiorella Mannoia, Nina Zilla and Fabrizio Bosso, just to mention a few names. And do not forget the pianists Ramin Bahrami and Roberto Cacciapaglia.
Furthermore, Verdi lives again with the Oblivion, cult band on Youtube, grown out of the historical Quartetto Cetra.
In other words, nothing is missing at the longest summer festival.
