Lampedusa, in Campania 99 Unaccompanied Foreign Minors

Regional Minister for Social Care Ermanno Russo stated: “Unaccompanied Foreign Minors for Campania are 99. Since they cannot be expelled and according to laws have to be hosted until 18 in social and educational facilities, during the last meeting of the Council of Ministers the Government opportunely set forth to allocate multi-annual resources to support their placement in foster homes”.

The Regional Minister added: “Government is really having a hand at this issue, and the Regions will do the same to ensure the due hospitality to unaccompanied foreign minors, since solidarity of regions has never been doubted; and it is even more unquestioned today, after such a remarkable and clear action of the Government, that decided to support smartly Municipal welfare, avoiding to burden Municipalities with the costs of the fees of foster homes”.

He concluded: “Thus, it is correct to find a suitable and respectable solution for minors and for territories, listening to the unanimous opinion of Regions, that gathered not later than 24 hours ago on the occasion of the Committee of Social Policies under the Conference of Regions to work on an agreement to give the Municipalities the opportunity to welcome those who today need to be supported, without running the risk of big Municipal financial unbalances”.
