Music Project, Caldoro: “Youth at the Core of Actions Implemented by Regione and Curia”
A single project with a double aim: making young people of the poorest areas of Naples and its province get closer to music and, at the same time, promoting the cultural and artistic assets of the involved districts. These are , in few words, the aims of the “Music Project” sponsored by Regione Campania, the Church of Naples and the Teatro San Carlo, presented at the Church of Donnaregina Vecchia in Naples.
President of Regione Campania Stefano Caldoro, Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, Regional Ministers for Culture Caterina Miraglia, and for Tourism Pasquale Sommese, Superintendent of Teatro San Carlo Rosanna Purchia, Councillor responsible for Tourism of the Municipality of Naples Nino Daniele attended the presentation.
The project envisages the formation of seven musical bands in the areas of the diocese where social poor conditions exist more. Every band will be composed of 50 young people, from 9 to 15, and will be led by 5 teachers and one coordinator. Thus, music becomes the primary tool for kids to grow up and abide by rules. Moreover, concerts in the Churches of Naples will start again with the other bands. One more reason to know and to promote local cultural assets.
President Caldoro pointed out: “We have been talking about it for so long with Msgr. Sepe. We have to do small but practical things. This is a concrete action, since it involves directly youth and moreover, Teatro San Carlo participates in it. An idea that could set an example for further actions”.
Cardinal Sepe emphasised: “This is a challenge and now we invest in seven music bands. We have to do something to give youth a better future. The Neapolitans have music in their blood, in their DNA. The musical investment is thus the best one”.
Mr Sommese stated: “Music is a chance to let young people re-discover enthusiasm and, above all, to bring on those values set by the Church and the culture”.
