Submission for IGP Pasta di Gragnano was published in the European Official
Daniela Nugnes President’s Advisor responsible for Agriculture appointed by Caldoro announced it.
She explained: “This is the last stage along the Community mark acknowledgement path started in 2008. As envisaged by the regulation, after six months from its publication, the EU Commission will file the IGP (Protected Geographical Indication) if no opposition is made by other EU members”.
Ms. Nugnes added: “It is the 22nd in Campania but the first one under the pasta category in Italy. It is not only a protection warranty but also a marketing tool for the promotion of a product now famous all over the world”.
She concluded: “Moreover, we are talking about a sector that is particularly vital for the regional economy. For the only last year, production increased by 10%. This achievement lays down the foundations to protect and promote a key food product for our diet that recalls doubtlessly quality and excellence of our region”.
