President of the Regional Executive Board, Stefano Caldoro, has signed this afternoon a document of intent with the Mayors of 19 medium-sized cities of Campania for the use of 100 additional million € for the implementation of the PIU Europa programme. Here follows the list of the Municipalities involved: Acerra, Afragola, Avellino, Aversa, Battipaglia, Benevento, Casalnuovo di Napoli, Caserta, Casoria, Castellammare di Stabia, Cava de’ Tirreni, Ercolano, Giugliano in Campania, Marano di Napoli, Portici, Pozzuoli, Salerno, Scafati and Torre del Greco.

The PIU Europa programme, currently underway in 19 cities, aims at the regeneration of the sustainable social and economic local situation and the enhancement of the quality of life from the urban, social, environmental and energy point of view.
President Caldoro has stated: "We share with medium-sized cities 100 additional million, practical actions, works and services for citizens. This proves that when finances look good again, resources are released and today, Campania is doing what no other region does all over Italy”.

Regional Minister for Local Governance Ermanno Russo attended the meeting too and stated: “Following several scouting meetings held at the Regional Office for Town Planning with the Mayors of medium-sized Cities, today we have obtained the signature of a main act that will allow to meet more concretely the needs for development of Campania urban centres, speeding up procedures for those projects that can be immediately put into place and are consistent with the PIU Europa strategy and the planning under the ERDF funds. The final aim is to enhance life conditions of medium-sized centres, by getting the most out of the European resources, with strict deadlines and schedules.
