PIU Europa, Programme Agreement for the Municipality of Acerra Signed

Today at Palazzo Santa Lucia the president of Regione Campania Stefano Caldoro and the mayor of Acerra Raffaele Lettieri have signed the programme agreement implementing the project PIU EUROPA. Attending the Regional Minister for Urban Planning and Territory Government Marcello Taglialatela, responsible for the implementation of the Urban Integrated Programme (PIU) Europa.

The Programme provides for the financing of 5 actions for an expenditure of about 20 millions, of which 17 are ERDF 2007-2013 resources, and 2 millions and a half are co-financed by the Municipality.

With today’s signing the understandings with the medium-sized cities of Campania have been concluded. An overall 15 programme agreements have been signed by president Caldoro. “In a year – said the president of Regione Campania Stefano Caldoro – for 15 cities we have allocated resources for about 300 million Euros of EU funds, for a total amount, with the co-financing, of more than 436 million Euros.

“We continue with the realisation of the agreement on the National Plan for the South and of the Action and Cohesion Plan, giving priority, in the use of resources, the respect of the principle of territorial application, and the method of interinstitutional sharing”, the president concluded.

“We give the go-ahead –  underlined the Regional Minister for Urban Planning and Territory Government Marcello Taglialatela  – to an agreement that is the fruit of a strong cooperation with the mayor and the municipal administration, which will make Acerra the protagonist of an important process of urban redevelopment.

“We met the commitments taken at the Tavolo Città: to end the entire procedure of PIU Europa by 2012, investing significant resources for the relaunch of our territories”, Taglialatela concluded.

“I wish to thank – declared mayor Raffaele Lettieri President Caldoro, the Regional Minister Taglialatela and the Regional Executive Board for the efforts made for the development of Acerra’s territory. With the signature of the agreement we complete a pathway started in 2005 and then stranded”.
