Rural Development Plan

Rural Development Plan: What is it? And which are its innovations?

Rural Development Plan is the tool to arrange actions in the agricultural sector for the period 2007-2013, in compliance with national and European laws. Rural Development Plan introduces two main innovations: territorialisation of actions, that is the adjustment of general guidelines according to the specific needs of every single area of Campania, and a strong propensity for energy and water saving as well as for environment protection. The Plan has 1.9 billion Euros available for the period 2007-2013.

How does it affect agricultural companies?

The Plan aims at fostering agricultural businesses and makes them more and more dynamic. To fulfil this aim Regione will support all companies that intend to enhance their structures and invest in their staff training laying the foundations to strengthen horizontal networks of relations among producers. This will make our production more competitive, increase workers’ skills and, hence, create wealth for all Campania citizens.

How does it affect quality of products and food safety?

Regione commits itself to support quality agricultural products and promote the concept of supporting only companies that prove to use high quality and safety standards. The aim is to increase the number of production that can achieve quality official recognitions (such as DOP and IGP) and thus ensure all consumers, above all those from Campania, the serenity of healthy food that is part and parcel of our tradition and identity.

How does it affect the environment?

Protecting biodiversity, promoting soil protection, guaranteeing water quality and security, reducing gas emissions, here are some of the action guidelines through which Rural Development Plan intends clearly to promote to the utmost a sustainable environmentally friendly agriculture through a smart use of available resources such as land, air and water. Since the Campania environment is a priority and a right for everybody.

How does it affect employment?

Agricultural sector needs more workers and more and more skilled workers. To achieve this result, it is necessary to: diversify agricultural productions, increasing the added value on offer; keep rural communities fully alive in order to ensure a continuous training and generational turnover. This is how Campania makes provisions for further wealth and more dynamism.
