Trains from and to Campania, Basilicata and Calabria Restored

Regional Minister for Transport and Production Activities of Campania Sergio Vetrella announced that over the next days all trains from/to Campania, Basilicata and Calabria rendered by Trenitalia and cancelled due to lack of funds, will be restored.

Mr. Vetrella explained: “Thanks to the helpfulness of my counterparts from Calabria Luigi Fedele and from Basilicata, Agatino Mancusi, whom I personally thank, in few hours we have succeeded in removing completely the connection cuts with Paola and Cosenza, giving back to citizens and commuters an indispensable service, in spite of the well-known and remarkable reduction of state transfers to regions concerning local public transport”.

The Regional Minister concluded: “In details, out of the six pairs of rides we had been forced to cancel, two will be paid also thanks to the contribution of Calabria (on the track Naples – Cosenza), and Basilicata (on the track Sapri – Paola), while the remaining will be at the full expense of Campania. An effort that was possible also thanks to the very good existing cooperation relations among our administrations with whom, almost every day at the Committee for Transport of the Conference of Regions, coordinated by Regione Campania, we cope with all the problems that affect this sector, starting from the lack of resources that the Government should transfer”.
