Transport, Regional Minister Wrote to Vice minister about Eav Crisis

Regional minister for Transport of Campania Sergio Vetrella sent the following letter to Vice minister for Infrastructure and Transport Mario Ciaccia:

“I am writing to ask your significant intervention for a serious urgent problem that is affecting enormously users of the regional rail transport services of the Società Ente Autonomo Volturno (EAV).

The Law no. 134/2012 (urgent measures for the growth of the Country) set forth the appointment of an Acting Commissioner, as well as the authorization to use for the period 2012 and 2013 resources of the Development and Cohesion Fund within the limit of 200 million € in order to face these problems.

To date, the incredible delay in the availability of this sum is generating an unbearable situation for users, since the duty to pay prior debts forces the Company to use partially the income coming from the service contracts; this deeply affects the quantity of travelling trains and the quality of the rendered service.

Hence, I dare to ask your support to speed up every needed phase to obtain the sum of 200 million €. I am well aware of your helpfulness and attention to the problems of the transport sector and I want to thank you in advance for any help you can provide”.
