Campania proves itself to be the headquarter of Alenia Aermacchi for the civil sector with three production plants (Pomigliano D’Arco, Nola and Capodichino) and a workforce of approximately 4.000 people (1/3 of its global workforce). Furthermore, in Nola Alenia Aermacchi, on the occasion of its 100th anniversary, celebrated the operative start of the new production and technological plants.

President of the Regional Government Stefano Caldoro, CEO of Alenia Aermacchi Giuseppe Giordo, President of Finmeccanica Giovanni de Gennaro and Antonio Pentangelo, President of the Province of Naples attended the ceremony.

President Caldoro said: “Nowdays we look into the future, into a South that works properly thanks to the institutions that trust this project and the company that supports it. But this is not enough and we look beyond, we want to carry on and win the big challenge of creating an integrated production in the South, that is between our area and Apulia”.

After visiting the plant and following a meeting with the employees, the public ceremony that took place was ended with the blessing of the Bishop of Nola, Beniamino Depalma.

The plant in Nola was established in 1995 with the manufacture of aircraft structures for several programmes, to name few for international partners such as Boeing and Airbus.

In Nola, machine processed parts and metal sheets are produced, and panels with a high level of industrial integrated automation are assembled.

In Nola, to date investments for 70 million Euros have been started and they envisage a total of 90 million Euros to be invested by 2014. These investments made it possible to improve production efficiency of plants and to enhance working conditions.
