Earthquake Risk, 19 Million € Allocated for Preventive Works

Earthquake Risk, 19 Million € Allocated for Preventive Works

The Regional Executive Board of Campania allocated more than 19 million € for the mitigation of the earthquake risk through interventions on both public and private buildings. Funds result from the article no. 11 of the so-called “Abruzzo Decree”.

In details, 1 million and 352 thousand € will fund seismic micro-zoning activities, that allow to better assess the land response in case of earthquake; 17 million and 580 thousand € will address interventions on buildings; 80% will fund public buildings, with priority given to those buildings that, from a functional point of view, are particularly important for civil protection related concerns (i.e. buildings selected as Mixed Operational Centre for the coordination of emergency services on an infra-municipal level, structures that obviously shall be located in earthquake proof buildings and not vulnerable in case of hydrogeological or any other natural disaster related event) and 20% will finance private building interventions; approximately 387 thousand Euros will address the data computerisation for a regional earthquake risk plan.

Regional Minister for Civil Protection Edoardo Cosenza explained: “We will also later address the strengthening of buildings located in the important escape routes, selected by the emergency plan”.
