Emergency Plans, Cosenza Met Provinces

The Regional Minister for Civil Protection Edoardo Cosenza chaired a meeting with the five Campania provinces, held at the Operations Room of Emercom at Centro direzionale, to take stock of the situation after the allocation of resources by the Regional Executive Board led by President Caldoro.

Councillors responsible for Civil Protection of the Province of Naples, Patrizia Sannino, of Caserta, Paolo Bidello and of Salerno, Attilio Pierro attended the meeting. For the Province of Benevento Special Commissioner Aniello Cimitile and, for Avellino, the ad hoc officer Daniela Manzi participated in the event. General Director of Regional Civil Protection Italo Giulivo attended the conference, too.

The call for the funding of civil protection plans with one million € allocation is designed for Provinces. Resources will be used to implement functional measures to ensure an effective management of natural risks.

Regional minister Cosenza stated: “Today’s meeting has been useful to ensure coordination among the different areas, to guarantee a third place for debate and meeting about civil protection issues, namely the regional administration”.

A shared need to set up at least one provincial operations room to activate in case of emergency, or, in wider or largely populated areas, two strategic centres able to manage possible natural events and ensure a connection among volunteers, technicians and field officers and the other administrations involved, arose from the meeting.

Regional Minister Edoardo Cosenza concluded: “Sharing of data, computerised procedures and the drafting of guidelines to comply with for each category of risk, taking into consideration regional best practices, could be very useful. Anyway, based on specific local needs, the Provinces are free to submit the application for funding civil protection projects which are more relevant for the protection of territory and citizens”.
