Campania is a positive example for the prescription of generic drugs. A figure that arises from data of the Study Centre of AssoGenerici, the National Association of Industries of Generic Drugs. This result is also the outcome of the new law of Regione Campania, established through a decree issued last 15 March by President Stefano Caldoro as Special Commissioner for the continuation of the re-payment Plan of the Healthcare sector that establishes the promotion of prescription of drugs with the same efficacy but less expensive.
Vice-president of AssoGenerici Francesco Colantuoni said: “A positive example from Campania concerning the possible positive aspects of the healthcare federalism if considered as a chance to walk new roads”. Moreover, Mr Colantuoni emphasises the savings, namely 25 million €, to generate if all the Italian regions used the same quantity of biosimilars detected in Campania. A law that, if applied on the national level, would make a 767 million € saving.
