Re-payment Plans for Healthcare Deficit, 287 Million for Campania

Re-payment Plans for Healthcare Deficit, 287 Million for Campania

The Council of Ministers, having considered the completion of the preliminary activity carried out by the taskforces for the verification of fulfilments concerning re-payment plans for healthcare deficit, authorised the Ministry of Finances to supply, as an advance payment, almost 2 billion € for Abruzzo, Calabria, Campania, Latium, Molise and Sicily. Campania will receive 287 million € following that 300 million obtained three months ago, when Campania was the only region that passed the verification of regional fulfilments of the inter-ministerial committee.

President’s Advisor for issues concerning healthcare Raffaele Calabrò stated: “This is a new satisfaction for us”.

He added: “This is the acknowledgement of these years great commitment to repay the huge inherited healthcare debt; this sum will enable us on the one hand to make big steps forward concerning debts and, on the other, to open up a new season for investments in this sector”.

Mr Calabrò concluded: “The issue concerning distribution criteria for the healthcare fund resources has still to be settled. But Regione Campania will keep on struggling for fair and equal criteria”.
