Okay to the Environmental Centre. Nappi: “Workers secured”

An important step forward in the way to the constitution of an Environmental Centre in Campania. Through the approval of the Budget, after the Constitutional Court’s intervention that roused defects of form related to the previous deeds, the administrative path that has allowed the constitution of Campania Ambiente e Servizi spa has been saved.

The new company will manage the processes for environmental requalification of Campania’s territory, also by transferring the functions and staff of subsidiaries companies inherited by the previous administration (Astir and Arpac Multiserivizi as well as Jacorossi, as the result of the agreement with the National Government). From the financial point of view, together with the resources allocated in agreement with the Government within the Action and Cohesion Plan, the regional Budget allocates another 7 million Euros destined to facilitating processes for the “esodo” (income-deprived voluntary early retirement) of employees who possess the retirement requirements, and to face debt exposures.

At the same time, also the agreement with the social parties for the concession of social security cushions by concession has been reached today, in favour of Astir’s employees. This agreement follows the similar one reached in the past few days, which made it possible to secure Arpac Multiservizi’s employees during the transition period. Finally, next Monday, the compensation for the ex-Jacorossi’s employees will be conceded. There are a total of 1000 employees of the Environmental Centre who are interested in the instruments prepared by the Executive Board. The start of the activities and the first transfers for the employees are expected in a few months, little by little, as the industrial plan that has been prepared by the new society’s management and already authorised by the Regional Executive Board becomes operational.

“The cohesive action shared by Executive Board and the Council allowed us to mark a significant point in the complex situation of the recovery of the Environmental Centre from inherited ashes – the Regional Minister for Employment Severino Nappi declares –; we have safeguarded the employees with a process aiming at a occupational re-integration useful for Campania’s citizens, and we have negotiated with the Government and obtained the resources to support the plan.

“We have found, in a very difficult Budget, the funds necessary for the transitional phase, and worked, in agreement with the social parties, between tensions and sometimes violence, without ever being intimidated and without questioning the respect of the rules. Also this fact marks the profound difference in action of the Government led by Caldoro”, Nappi concludes.
