Regione to Government: "Public Finances, No Debts"

Regione to Government: "Public Finances, No Debts"

“Prime Minister Letta expressed his worries and those correspond to ours. Debt is a nightmare for any administration. This is why we do back the idea of awarding virtuous examples. And Campania is a virtuous example, since from 2010 to date has not taken out one single Euro debt, being well aware that the main hurdle to development is that huge debt the Regione is carrying on reducing, while the State has difficulties in containing”.

Regional Minister for Budget Gaetano Giancane explains in details that “this year’s decree 35 does not help in solving problems since through it the State obliged us to pay businesses but by taking out more debts”.

“In Campania, from 2010 to date we have been reducing current expenditure by more than 600 million €, delivering the best performance in Italy. This gave us the opportunity to avoid taking out more debts to face those huge inherited from the past, and not to use any administration surplus to cover expenses since it would have led to deficit as in the 1999-2009 decade trend.”

Mr. Giancane pointed out: “Budget balanced in the healthcare sector in only three years, eliminating 774 million € deficit of the single year 2009 is another proof of the constant commitment of the Regional Executive Board led by President Caldoro about this issue, since we all bear in mind the shared worry of the Prime Minister concerning the idea that debts mean exploiting our future and using resources of our children to solve current problems”.

Mr. Giancane conluded: “But the Government now has to do more and award virtuous examples. Those who achieved remarkable results implementing actions meant to fight debts, as we did, deserve more. In Campania the situation is explosive and, on our own, with our strength only, we cannot get it”.
