Censis: Italians believe Campania is Very Beautiful

81.6% of Italians believe “Campania is a very beautiful region and is worthy being visited”, in spite of the strong lack of safety and legality perception (75%).

This is the result of a survey carried out by Censis in 2013 about “Reputation, Identity and Values of Campania”. If outside of the regional boundaries Campania transmits a positive image, those who live here are willing to do something for the local development but feel in the midst of a lack of interest.

Campania remains a land worthy being visited in the popular imagination, regardless people visited it or not. Those who visited Campania, namely 44.2%, found it better than usually described. Only 4.4% found it worse.

More than 70% of the sample considered as positive the force of the Campania local traditions; 65% expressed a positive opinion about its natural assets, even higher that the cultural appraisal (60%). The survey also involved Campania citizens. 76% would do something to help those who need, 69.2% would do something for the territory. But only 15.2% thought that in Campania a strong social cohesion exist; 16% believed honesty exists among citizens; 11.6% thought the sense of rules exists.

Regional Minister for Tourism of Campania Pasquale Sommese said: “We need to turn this perception of the region into actions, through marketing activities, being well aware of how extremely beautiful this land is”.
