Faito and Montevergine Cable Car, Go-Ahead to Technical Taskforce

Today the regional Minister for Tourism Pasquale Sommese has opened the meetings of the technical taskforce to draft a management solution for the cable car that connects Castellammare di Stabia to Monte Faito and the funicular from Mercogliano to the Church of Montevergine.

The concerned Municipalities along with the local environmental associations have participated in the meeting.

The taskforce aims at drafting management plans for the two systems and complete projects able to arise the interest of private stakeholders.

Regional Minister Sommese stated: “We activated this technical taskforce to draft a five-year management plan that could supplement the potentials of tourism development of the Faito and Montevergine areas”.

“In agreement with Regional Minister for Transport Sergio Vetrella, we found the resources required to upgrade and innovate the systems, keeping the commitments taken on. We are sure that the taskforce will give the expected results shortly as for the management of those systems”.

He concluded: “The re-activation of sustainable transport systems, such as the cable car in Faito and the funicular in Montevergine, is a strategic choice to re-launch remarkable tourism systems for the development of the Irpinia and Castellammare areas. Now, everybody has, according to the position, the task to share and implement ideas and strategies to make them real”.
