Circumvesuviana, Vetrella: "From Next Week 26 more Daily Rides"

Circumvesuviana, Vetrella: "From Next Week 26 more Daily Rides"

From Monday 17 September 2012, Circumvesuviana will make 26 more daily rides (268 instead of 242).

Regional Minister for Transport and Production Activities of Campania Sergio Vetrella announced it.

He stated: “These further rides of the Circumvesuviana railway are the outcome of the special maintenance plan of trains we started last April and that carries on recording remarkable improvements month by month. In just five months, we have recovered almost 70 rides per day, from 200 of April we got to 222 in May- June until the remarkable amount of current 242 that will soon turn 268 on 17 September”.

Mr. Vetrella added: “The 40 million resources and more we allocated for this plan allowed us to already recover several trains stored in the depots for lack of maintenance. And advantages resulted not only from the increased number of rides, but also from the possibility of using three carriages instead of two, in order to reduce more and more the problems for users at overcrowded busy times, and from the opportunity of delivering more unscheduled rides in case of need. The final aim, namely making the service return to normality and efficiency, has not been fulfilled yet, but certainly we are on the right track. Within this framework, we still have to cope with cuts of state transfers concerning public transport, I am fighting and I will keep on fighting on behalf of all Regions”.

The new timetable, valid from next 17 September, is available on the Circumvesuviana website and at all stations, as well as on the Regione Campania website (www.regione.campania.it), and on the Internet (www.sergiovetrella.it) and facebook (www.facebook.com/ass.vetrella) profiles of Regional Minister Vetrella.
