A memorandum of understanding with Arcadis to complete the sewage systems in the Municipalities of Scafati, Boscoreale, Calvanico and Siano has been signed at the Sala Giunta of Regione Campania in Santa Lucia.
President of the Executive Board of Campania Stefano Caldoro, Regional Minister for Public Works Edoardo Cosenza, Regional Minister for Local Authorities Pasquale Sommese, President of Arcadis Flavio Cioffi and the Mayors of the concerned Municipalities participated in the conference.
President Caldoro commented on the memorandum: “We are glad to start the new year with a major strategic action for the Sarno river area, with an environmental reclamation project and, especially, a real project of a work site that opens”. He also emphasised how positively the works will affect the area. The President concluded: “We will have positive effects on the sea and on our land, to foster tourism and good agriculture”.
The works will include an area of approximately 80 thousand inhabitants for a pollution load of about 300 thousand equivalent inhabitants. The funded actions included in the resolution to accelerate expenditure are part of a comprehensive strategy of the Executive Board led by Mr Caldoro for the Sarno river and are another important step for the depollution of the concerned hydrographical basin. 37 million € divided as follows: 28 million € to fund the whole sewage system of Scafati, 9 million € more to complete the sewage networks in Boscoreale that will be connected to the Foce Sarno purifier, in Calvanico that will be connected to the purification system of Mercato San Severino, and in Siano that will be conveyed into the Nocera system.
