EU Funds, Caldoro: “Campania Makes up for Delay, More Supervisions and Measures to Speed up"

Eu Funding Programmes for 2000/2006 faced several problems and the initial stage of 2007-2013 planning had to overcome some gaps. On the other hand, this year, as recalled by Commissioner Hahn, has been extraordinary for the acceleration of expenditure, doing in two years what had not been done in the last ten.

“Problems still exist due to red tape that delays our action but we are implementing actions from that point of view too. For the future, we have very ambitious goals set. We boast strengthened partnerships and we work nights and days to use these funds appropriately and to find a way to get a quality planning, based on big projects able to change our country. Even if our country is two-faced with too many differences between the North and the South, on which the National Government should work”.

These were the words President of the regional Executive Board of Campania Stefano Caldoro used at the end of the Conference called “"Towards Europe 2020. The 2014-2020 planning for cohesion policies" held on the opening day of the 2013 Edition PA Forum in Rome.

Besides the President, Carlo Mochi Sismondi (Chairman - FORUM PA), Carlo Trigilia (Minister for Territorial Cohesion), Jole Santelli (Undersecretary of the Ministry for Employment and Social Policies) , Giuseppe Castiglione (Undersecretary of the Ministry for Agricultural Food and Forest Policies) and Johannes Hahn (EU Commissioner for Regional Policy) spoke about European Funds at the Auditorium of the Palazzo dei Congressi.

EU Commissioner Hahn, during a quick visit to the Stand of the Regione, acknowledged the recent work Campania carried out for the expenditure and control of Funds.

A panel session with President Caldoro, Governors of Apulia, Nichi Vendola, and of Calabria Giuseppe Scopelliti followed the Conference.
