Agricultural policy has long been oriented towards upgrading and promoting Campania agricultural productions, being well aware that the “globalization” market challenge can be overcome only by promoting quality and emphasizing local specialties, that are the real added value of Campania agricultural productions.
From this point of view, Campania actually has remarkable assets of typical quality production, the result of a consolidated entrepreneurial experience of the producers themselves who increasingly acknowledge the importance of the recognition and protection of special features of their products as the major driving force for marketing and establishment of their productions in the market.
Regional Administration for Agriculture has long been supporting all stakeholders in the primary sector with an encouraging process to join quality and specialty certification systems that through the Designation of Origin (DO) are the top international legal protection.
The support to designation development and the spread of strategic importance related to certified quality is implemented through several promotional initiatives where the whole system of regional agricultural development services is involved.
The strategic value given by the regional Administration to the promotion of certified quality and particularly to DOP and IGP products is confirmed also by a large production of information both on paper, namely leaflets, brochures, posters, and multimedia such as videos, DVDs and CD-ROMs. For traditional products too, as provided by Ministerial Order no.350/99, constant revision of listed products allowed classification and acknowledgment by the Ministry for Agriculture and Forestry Policy of the remarkable number of 335 products (9% of the national amount).
On the website of the Regional Administration you will find a dedicated section on typical products with detailed and updated information. Learn more.
