Circumvesuviana Disruptions, Vetrella: "Unbearable Troubles for Citizens"

Regional Minister for Transport and Production Activities of Campania Sergio Vetrella has commented today on the disruptions occurred on the Circumvesuviana lines: “We cannot but condemn very strongly what has happened today on the Circumvesuviana line, whose serious disruptions caused, according to the company, just by a sudden and unreasoned increase of sickness leaves of the train crew, created unbearable troubles for users and more and more economic and reputation damages for a company already affected and hit by the crisis it is experiencing, due to the senseless past administrations. This is a situation we are trying to upgrade progressively, after having obtained by the Government the go-ahead for the recovery plan of the companies of the Eav group”.

Mr. Vetrella added: “Circumvesuviana informed me that they reported to the judicial authorities. Notwithstanding the sacred right to demonstrate as established by the laws, and particularly in such a difficult moment characterised by a big commitment and remarkable economic resources allocated by Regione, respect for those millions of citizens who daily use public transport to reach their work place, their schools or for any other reason should prevail. People know the difficult work we are performing to solve an emergency that still is the cause for a transport service that is not completely efficient yet; this is why we cannot understand the reasons for actions that bring discredit on the company, fuel exasperation of users, and risk of thwarting our efforts made to enhance conditions of Campania public transport system, to protect transport services of citizens and the rights of workers.
