The high-tech centre works in the context of surface transportation (automotive, railways, logistics) and aims at the fulfilment of the following objectives:
- Increase the competitiveness of the founding firms of the Centre and create the conditions to attract new investments to Naples and Campania in Research, Development and Production, based on automotive/railway technologies, both external and endogenous;
- enhance and increase scientific and technological competencies in the Transports and Logistics sector of the research system of Campania;
- support the growth of the SMEs of the mechanics field in Campania through the creation of high added value products based on enabling technologies for the automotive and rail sectors;
- create a “network excellence” to be added to the various excellences of the single players in the centre from a qualitative and quantitative point of view;
- enforce the interaction among research, applied research, and transfer of technology;
- attract human resources and brilliant young people coming from other regions or countries;
- attract National and European resources for the development of research programmes, applied research, and transfer of technology.
DISTECTRA sees the participation of important industrial organisations (Anfia Automotive; Ansaldo Breda; Ansaldo Sts; Circumvesuviana; Rfi; Elsag Datamat; Aster, Almaviva Tsf; Cid Software; Consorzio Cea; Consorzio Ctif; Consorzio Snam; Consorzio Tecnologies; Intecs; Rina; Sesamo) in addition to specialised research centres (Centro di Competenza Test; Centro di Competenza Cerict).
