CAL, Sommese: “Important Achievement for Local Autonomies”

Another important achievement for local autonomies in Campania thanks to the resolution approved today – Regional Minister Pasquale Sommese commented on the regulation that monitors the election procedure of CAL (Council for Local Autonomies), envisaged by the current Statute.

Mr. Sommese pointed out: “We continue to follow the path of reforms keeping our commitments. After the administrative organization of offices, that allowed a simplification of the bureaucratic machine halving the number of structures and executives, now this important advisory and participation body has got the go-ahead: it aims at reaching shared choices, with federalism and decentralization as a possible outlook”.

The mayors of the five capital cities of the regions as well as the Presidents of the Provinces will be de jure members while those by election will be selected by Municipalities. This is how we involve the whole system of local autonomies in the decision-making process of local development, as provided for by national laws. Obviously, since they are institutional representatives they will be entitled to special-duty allowances.

It is important to underline that, as promised, participation of authorities representatives without voting right is envisaged in order to ensure a continuous connection among autonomies and organizations – Regional Minister concluded.
