Civil Protection Agency

The Campania Civil Protection Agency safeguards citizens and local urban settlements from possible damages resulting from natural events. In compliance with Government directives and the national Department of Civil Protection, its activity is carried out along three main stages, namely prevention, prevision and emergency with assistance to populations.

Regione coordinates urgent actions, in case of emergency caused by natural disasters (volcanic, seismic, hydrogeological instability or fire-related events) or by men made activities, through the preparation and the implementation of specific planning, and technical and operational activities aimed at guaranteeing the first actions to carry out together with the Prefetture and the other involved authorities.

Regione Campania is proud of its modern and effective system of Civil Protection; the following structures fall under the Agency responsibility:

- the functional centre for weather forecasts and permanent monitoring, that supplies elements for warning and pre-warning activation set forth by emergency plans;

- the Operations Room to manage aid operations; this is a 24/7 active structure that handles aid operations to implement when emergency occurs;

- the Regional School, to handle education and training of public officers and volunteers, in order to promote an appropriate local civil protection culture.
