The Institutional Committee of the Central Campania Basin Authority chaired by Regional Minister Edoardo Cosenza gathered.
Commissioner Pasquale Marrazzo, representatives from the five provinces and from the Regional Administrations for Agriculture, Cultural Heritage and Environment took part in the meeting.
During the meeting, the final project for the Sarno River has been examined and a positive opinion has been expressed concerning the environmental compliance about this EIA procedure.
Moreover, this Major Project has been found to be compatible with the new plan regulating the more urgent aspects of the hydrogeological structure and of the coast conservation for the territory under the responsibility of the former basin authority of the Sarno.
During the Institutional Committee meeting, ten resolutions concerning proposals made by Municipal Administrations about new perimeter marking of parts of Municipal territory with hydrogeological hazards has been approved. Particularly, the following Municipalities have been examined and approved: Naples, Nola, Somma Vesuviana, Roccarainola, Sant’Agnello and Liveri, in the Province of Naples; San Valentino Torio, Fisciano and Roccapiemonte in the Province of Salerno; Mugnano del Cardinale in the Province of Avellino.
Regional Minister Edoardo Cosenza said: “The final project concerning the Sarno river, one of the first to be examined, has been drafted without any cost for the Regione by the technicians of the Administration, who are part of the Sector for Soil Conservation, Central Campania Basin Authority and Arcadis.”
“We wish local administrations and other parties concerned in the environmental impact assessment of the Major Project of the Sarno River appreciate the effort made giving green light to the start of works".
