Major Projects, 32 Million € Call for Purification in Province of Benevento

The call for the entrustment of the planning, coordination of safety during the design phase and implementation of works of the “Functional Section Province of Benevento” under the Major Project “Environmental Rehabilitation of surface water bodies of internal areas” was published in the Official Journal of the European Union.

This section is approximately 32 million € and deals with works to be implemented in the Municipalities of Castelvenere, San Salvatore Telesino, Solopaca, Telese Terme, Dugenta, Durazzano, Limatola, Sant’Agata dei Goti, Paupisi, Ponte, Torrecuso.

Regional Minister Edoardo Cosenza, strategic coordinator of Major Projects, delegated by President Caldoro, stated: “This is the fifth Major project put out to tender in few weeks”.

He added: “This is a Major Project that plays a key role for a proper functioning of the purification plants in areas with a high natural value such as the Province of Benevento, but also for the Domitian Coast: unprocessed waste water through the Calore river and other affluents flow into the Volturno, and, thus, contribute to the sea and coast water pollution”.

Regional Minister for Environment of Campania Giovanni Romano expressed his satisfaction and highlighted: “This call for tender is the result of an effective synergy between the Regional Administration for Environment and Arcadis. It also shows the concrete attention of Regione to the internal areas which are still lacking of the main sewage systems. This is a further step forward within the context of the implementation of the strategic plan of the Regional Administration for Environment aimed at improving the environmental quality of the sea and its resources in order to promote the development of a sustainable economy for a top quality tourism and hospitality. This measure is connected to those already at an interesting contracting phase, the Domitian and Phegrean Coasts, and to those that will be soon put out to tender such as the areas of Regi Lagni and the Province of Salerno”.

The view of President of the Committee for Environment of the Regional Council Luca Colasanto is positive too: “The opening of the calls of the Major Project for the Internal Areas shows, after years of carelessness, the commitment of Regione to the area of Sannio. The implementation of these works will solve hard problems many local zones experience concerning sewage collector and purification system".
