Arpac has conducted the first inspection in Acerra in order to carry out an analysis of the oily soot that was reported in some areas. The first check took place on the past 5 September, after the report of 30 August.
Arpac took samples in the areas concerned, as indicated by the municipal technicians. More precisely, the inspection concerned Contrada San Giovanni and a rural plot in the Montesanto area. On both areas the old leaves of some trees presented a dark, viscous patina and some parasites. The samples collected by the Naples Provincial Department of Arpac were taken to the phytopathological laboratory of Regione Campania, and to the Arpac laboratories for the tests aimed also at the search of chemical contaminants (aromatic polycyclic hydrocarbons) and heavy metals.
“The analyses on the soot samples that will be found in residential buildings will continue”, declared Giovanni Romano, Regional Minister for the Environment of Regione Campania.
