Maximum limits of acceptability for concentrations and exposure related to air and external environment pollutants. It has fixed the values of the environmental indicators for certain pollutants (quality standards) and the methodologies of sampling and analysis.

Technical rules on the subject of levels of attention and alert states for air pollutants in urban areas. It fixes the attention and alert levels with the subsequent attention and alert states.

Ministerial Decree 16 May 1996

Activation of an ozone pollution surveillance system.

It compels the Regions to compile an annual report for the ozone concentration data as for the period 1 January-31 December, in which information about the parent elements can be included (NOx and volatile organic compounds). It also ordains that the reference method to be uses for the determination of ozone concentration is the one based on U.V. absorption.

Regulations containing rules for the identification of environmental and health standards according to which mayors adopt measures to limit traffic.

The decree fixes the criteria according to which mayors adopt possible measures to limit or totally stop vehicular traffic in the urban area in order to guarantee a concrete improvement of air quality.

This decree has acknowledged the directives 99/30/ EC and 00/69/ EC on the limit value for air quality in relation to sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, PM10, lead, benzene and carbon monoxide.
