Terzigno, Landfills Cases Dismissed

The European Commission dismissed the case concerning the landfills in the Municipality of Terzigno (Cava Sari and Cava Vitiello) and the resulting procedure.

It occurred following the activities carried out and the reports supplied by Regione Campania.

Regional Minister of the Environment of Regione Campania, Giovanni Romano stated: “In particular, as for Cava Sari, we showed that in that site waste delivery activities stopped in compliance with the current laws and the future plant projects. As for the landfill project in Cava Vitiello, we have pointed out that, through a law decree of 26 November 2010 then converted into Law (Law no.1 of 24.1.2011), the removal from the list of sites to become landfills has been ordered”.

Mr Romano concluded: "The European Union’s decision is a proof of the new approach of Regione Campania concerning waste, led by Caldoro’s Regional Executive Board. An activity that strictly meets current laws and European rules to protect lands and citizens”.
