Water, Agreement for the settlement of Gori debt signed

With an agreement among Regione Campania, the Territorial Body of Sarnese-Vesuviano, Gori Spa and AcquaCampania, the settlement of the debt of the Santa Lucia Authority to the sole administrator of Ato, equal to 283 million Euros, received the go-ahead.

With this conciliation it was put a stop to a decennial controversy which had caused a debt for the Gori company, accrued to Regione Campania since 2002, because of the failed payment of the charges related to the wholesale water supply from the regional aqueducts and to the sewer services and the services for the purification of refluent waters in the district purification plants. The debt will be settled by Gori through a payment by instalments that will last twenty years.

Considered the abandonment of all the lis pendens, the acceptance of the rates, and considered the actual payment of the due sums already starting in September, there was a new determination of the debt according to the law.

The sum that Gori will have to pay is equal to 220 million Euros. The saved amount will be destined to the citizens, who will receive a cut on their bills.

“A historical result that allows Regione Campania to obtain important resources to reinvest in the realization of structural interventions and, therefore, for the collective good”, commented the Regional Minister for the Environment and Integrated Water Cycle of Palazzo Santa Lucia Giovanni Romano.
